Iran Hangs Two Men Over January Anti-Regime Protests
Iran executed two protesters at Ghezel Hesar Prison at dawn on April 5. Nineteen-year-old Mohammadamin Biglari and 30-year-old Shahin Vahedparast Kalour were among at least 25 men arrested during the January demonstrations. Their families were not allowed final visits or goodbyes. Rights group Iran Human Rights warns that these daily executions aim to terrorize citizens and block further protests. Director Mahmoud Amiry-Moghaddam says more hangings could follow without strong international pressure on the regime. Both men were accused of setting fire to a Basij paramilitary base and convicted of “enmity against God” by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court under Judge Abolghassem Salavati. Reports say they endured weeks of torture before their death sentences.
