Understanding the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1–23)
Jesus sat by the lake and spoke to a large crowd in parables. He told of a farmer scattering seed on four types of soil. Some seeds fell along the path and were eaten by birds. Others sprang up quickly on rocky ground but withered for lack of root. Some were choked by thorns. Only the seed on good soil thrived and produced a rich harvest. Jesus used this story to show how people receive the message of God’s kingdom. He explained that hearing without understanding lets evil snatch away the word. Roots of faith must go deep to survive trials. Worries and wealth can choke growth, but those who truly understand will bear lasting fruit.
