Police Question Osun Lawmaker as 146 People Gather at Ikire Residence on Election Day

Police officers questioned Osun State House of Assembly member Abiola Ibrahim after about 146 people were found gathered at a private residence in Ikire on election day. Ibrahim, the Accord Party representative for Irewole/Isokan Constituency, said the property belonged to his late father. He told officers that the people gathered there were voters and denied hiring them or promising them anything. When asked whether those present were registered voters from Ikire, he said the group included people from both within and outside the community. Security personnel were also seen with Permanent Voter Cards reportedly belonging to those at the residence. The incident comes amid heightened security across Osun State, as police warned against voter inducement, unlawful mobilisation and other electoral offences.
