Benue Governor Orders Security Crackdown on Forest Terrorist Camps

Benue Governor Orders Security Crackdown on Forest Terrorist Camps

Governor Hyacinth Alia has directed security agencies to intensify operations against terrorist hideouts in Benue State’s forest areas. He singled out attacks in Apa, Otukpo and Gwer-West LGAs, including recent deadly strikes in Edikwu-Ankpali, Ikobi, Adija and Upu villages. Describing the resurgence of violence as unacceptable, the governor mandated an intelligence-driven security offensive to neutralise threats and restore confidence in affected communities. He emphasised that protecting lives and property remains his administration’s top priority. Alia also assured residents of close collaboration with federal security forces and urged citizens to stay vigilant, cooperate with operatives and share credible information. He extended condolences to bereaved families and reaffirmed his resolve to secure lasting peace in Benue.
