Bandits Ambush, Kill Former Benue SSG David Salifu on Wukari-Makurdi Road

Former Benue State Secretary to the Government David Salifu died in the early hours at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi. Salifu, who served under former Governor Gabriel Suswam and lectured at the Federal University, Wukari, was shot after suspected bandits halted his vehicle on the outskirts of Wukari. He reportedly challenged the attackers before they opened fire. A close associate and African Democratic Congress senatorial candidate confirmed Salifu was first treated in Wukari. Plans to transfer him to Abuja were abandoned, and he was taken to Makurdi where he later died. The Taraba State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
