Two Pregnant Women, Conductor Die as Lafarge Truck Crashes in Abule Egba
It was a tragic evening at the Abule Egba U-turn on April 21 when a Lafarge truck heading to Oshodi developed a mechanical fault and veered into oncoming traffic. The vehicle struck cars, pedestrians and a commercial bus. Two pregnant women and the truck conductor died instantly. Several others were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals by good Samaritans before emergency crews arrived. Angry residents blamed poor maintenance and reckless driving for repeated crashes in the area. LASTMA and traffic police eventually restored order, while locals are calling for a full investigation and stricter safety checks to prevent further loss of lives.
