Sheik Jingir Denies Hating Christians, Calls for Fairness to All Nigerians
Sheik Sani Yahaya Jingir, chairman of JIBWIS, has denied claims that he dislikes Christians or other non-Muslims. He said remarks he made at a Kano State mass wedding were misinterpreted and were never intended to promote religious hatred. Speaking at a national symposium in Jos, the cleric said Islam teaches Muslims to live peacefully and deal fairly with people of other faiths. He added that Muslims who cheat non-Muslims would be held accountable before God. Jingir urged President Bola Tinubu, governors and other political leaders to govern with justice, regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. He also said Nigerians are free to support candidates of their choice and called for peace and unity across the country.
