What Pearl Harbor Teaches About Attacking U.S. Warships
If a regime decides to blow up U.S. naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, they should recall Pearl Harbor. On December 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise attack hoping to force a quick peace. Instead, it awakened America’s full might. The U.S. mobilized its entire industry, carried out island-hopping campaigns, firebombed major cities, and ultimately dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan surrendered unconditionally in 1945. A direct strike on U.S. warships rarely ends well for the attacker. Remember Pearl Harbor before risking the same fate. Shalom!
