A Lagos flower-business owner says she may have to shut down after her landlord reportedly increased her rent by more than 380%. She said she saved for five years to secure the space, which was rundown when she moved in. According to her, she spent her remaining funds renovating it from floor to ceiling. She alleged that the landlord raised the rent without prior notice after the improvements, describing the new amount as several millions of naira. She is now searching for another location and has advised business owners to secure long-term written leases before investing heavily in rented premises.
