Oriire Abduction: Principal Reveals Teachers Chained and Children Beaten in 56-Day Ordeal

The principal of a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has described the brutal 56-day captivity of staff and pupils. She recounted how male teachers were blindfolded and chained, while younger children were beaten whenever they cried or made noise. Victims spent most of their ordeal exposed to rain and sun in the open forest. They were forced on dangerous midnight treks through dense bush to evade security operatives, drawing strength from prayer and the hope of rescue. Mrs Alamu and the other survivors were formally handed over to the governor in Ibadan. The state government has vowed to step up security measures to protect schools in the region.
