Kano Hisbah Launches Operation Kano First Against Alleged Immoral Acts
The Kano State Hisbah Board says it has launched Operation Kano First, a statewide crackdown on acts it describes as immoral. Deputy Commander-General Mujahid Aminuddeen announced the operation on Thursday, August 13, 2026, after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf donated 10 operational vehicles and 50 motorcycles to support the agency's work. Aminuddeen said officers had begun patrols on major roads and warned that anyone arrested for offences under the operation would face legal consequences. The board said the patrols would also encourage good conduct and help resolve disputes among residents. Hisbah is a Kano State Government agency responsible for enforcing Sharia-related laws, promoting moral conduct and mediating disputes.
