Edo Warns Substandard Health Facilities of Permanent Closure and Fines

The Edo State Health Regulatory and Monitoring Agency has warned that health facilities operating below approved standards could face permanent closure and fines. The agency said more than 20 facilities previously sealed are working to correct deficiencies identified during inspections. Some were allegedly unregistered, while others failed to maintain the standards required for their licences. Officials are revalidating health facilities across Edo’s 18 local government areas to identify unqualified operators and ensure hospitals, clinics, orphanages, shelters and public health centres meet approved standards. The agency said it would work with relevant authorities to address gaps found in public facilities.
