Reps Panel Clears Gbajabiamila in Fake Government Council Probe

A House of Representatives committee has cleared President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, of involvement in the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council scam. The committee said documents used to present the council as a government body, including an appointment letter, an Executive Order and a supposed Act of the National Assembly, were forged. Investigators traced 58 bank accounts and 12 other alleged fake agencies to the scheme’s suspected mastermind. The panel is also examining an alleged ₦400 million payment linked to a government contract said not to exist. Gbajabiamila was previously accused of taking a bribe over the council, but the committee said its findings did not support that claim.
