Lagos Court Fines Man ₦270,000 for Impersonating Lawyer and Using Forged NBA Seal
A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has convicted John Nwawuto Anoruo for impersonating a legal practitioner and using a forged Nigerian Bar Association seal. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said Anoruo submitted petitions while presenting himself as a lawyer, despite not being called to the Nigerian Bar. Investigators found that the Supreme Court enrolment number on the seal belonged to another lawyer. Anoruo pleaded guilty to both charges. The court fined him a total of ₦270,000 and ordered the forfeiture of the counterfeit seal and legal attire recovered during the investigation.
