AC Milan Legend Franco Baresi Reportedly Dies Aged 66
Italian football legend and AC Milan icon Franco Baresi has reportedly died at the age of 66. Known as “El Capitano,” he spent his entire professional career with Milan and wore the captain’s armband for 15 years. Baresi remained with Milan through relegation to Serie B and later led the club through one of its greatest eras. He won six Serie A titles, three European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups and several domestic super cups. His number 6 shirt was retired by AC Milan after his retirement in 1997. At international level, Baresi won the 1982 World Cup with Italy and captained the team to the 1994 World Cup final. Alongside Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta and Mauro Tassotti, he formed one of football’s most celebrated defensive lines. Rest in peace, Franchino.
