I Took a Weekend Trip With My Friends and Left My Wife at Home. Was I Wrong?
I have been married for two years, but I still value the friendships I built before marriage. When my university friends planned a weekend trip to Ibadan, I saw it as a chance to relax, reconnect and enjoy our old memories without turning it into a couples’ outing. My wife hinted that she wanted to come because she would be lonely at home. I chose not to invite her because she is not close to my friends, and I wanted time with them without worrying about whether she was enjoying herself. I also assumed she might be uncomfortable with parts of the trip. After I returned, she said I had deliberately excluded her from an important part of my life. I do not believe every outing must include a spouse, but I now wonder if I should have spoken honestly instead of deciding for both of us. Was I wrong?
