Ogun: Housewife and Two Teenagers Arrested for Alleged Murder of Husband
A 35-year-old housewife, Maureen Okirie, has been arrested for allegedly beating her 38-year-old husband, Stanley Okirie, to death with a pestle. Two teenage relatives of the victim, both 12 years old, are also in custody for their suspected role in the crime and cover-up. Police detectives from the Ajuwon Division of the Ogun State Command responded to an anonymous tip on April 9, 2026. They found one of the suspects attempting to bury the bloodied corpse in a shallow grave. A preliminary examination revealed a severe head injury. The murder weapon was recovered and the victim’s body has been taken to the Life Channel Mortuary in Olambe for autopsy. The suspects remain in police custody and will be transferred to SCID Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution. The Ogun State Commissioner of Police condemned the act as cruel, inhumane and disturbing, especially given the family ties involved. He warned that attempts to conceal such violence will not be tolerated.
