Alia Vows Justice After Deadly Gunmen Attack in Benue’s Otukpo

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia says his administration will use every lawful means to protect residents and secure their communities after gunmen attacked Efeyi community in Ugboju District, Otukpo Local Government Area. Scores of residents were reportedly killed and several others injured during the early-morning attack. The governor said the perpetrators would be brought to justice and commended police operatives, who reportedly killed two suspected attackers while pursuing the fleeing group. The attack comes as the Nigeria Police begins a 14-day operation across identified security flashpoints in Benue. The operation is expected to target armed gangs, kidnappers, illegal weapons and other criminal elements, with residents urged to provide credible intelligence.
