UUTH Nurses Withdraw Services After Alleged Assault by Patient’s Father
Nurses at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) have withdrawn services after two colleagues were allegedly assaulted by the father of a four-year-old patient who died at the facility. The incident reportedly began when the man was asked to wait for the child’s outstanding bill to be computed before the body could be released. He was accused of attacking nurses, overturning a medication trolley and scattering patient files while searching for the billing unit. The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives said services will remain withdrawn until the suspect is arrested and stronger security measures are provided for health workers. The action is expected to disrupt care across the hospital.
