Vigilantes Nab Suspected Benue Kidnapper Months After Stepsister and Nephew’s Murder
A local vigilante group in Benue State has arrested Anthony Okwori in Orokam district, Ogbadibo LGA. He had been on the run since August 13, 2025, after allegedly killing his stepsister, Mrs. Anthonia Shuaibu, and her son, Gabriel. Intelligence linked Okwori to multiple kidnappings and supplying drugs to bandits. On the deadly night in Adepe Ejema, his gang stormed the home to abduct the returning son. When the family resisted, the assailants opened fire, killing both victims and injuring a younger child who later survived in Enugu. After months at large, Okwori was tracked by the Okalego vigilantes. He resisted arrest but was ultimately overpowered and handed to police. Officers praised the operation for its strong intelligence and gallantry.
