Nollywood actor Zubby Michael says many industry gatekeepers and executives are reluctant to support Igbo entertainers because they fear being outshone. Speaking in an interview, he argued that Igbo people often learn quickly and can become successful after receiving limited mentorship. He said this can make some mentors worried that their protégés will later become competitors. Zubby added that this reluctance to support Igbo talents can also come from within the Igbo community.
