Anambra Says No Ebola Cases Recorded, Begins Monitoring and Screening Measures
Anambra State says it has not recorded any Ebola case following reports of a laboratory-confirmed case in Abuja. The Ministry of Health urged residents to remain calm, avoid rumours and cooperate with public health officials. The state said it has been monitoring persons identified through the national surveillance system. As of October 20, 2026, 40 people had been followed up: 33 completed the 21-day monitoring period and were cleared, while seven remained under observation in stable condition. Health authorities are preparing to deploy surveillance officers at Chinua Achebe Airport, motor parks, banks and other public locations. Residents who develop fever or other symptoms after relevant travel or contact history should notify health authorities promptly. The ministry also advised against unverified remedies and warned residents not to stigmatise people under monitoring.
