Tinubu Mourns NPC Chairman Aminu Yusuf, Hails His Public Service

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of National Population Commission Chairman, Dr Aminu Yusuf, who died on August 28, 2026, at the age of 66 after a brief illness. Tinubu described Yusuf as a patriot and dedicated public servant whose death is a major loss to Niger State, the NPC and Nigeria. He offered condolences to the Yusuf family, the people of Wushishi Local Government Area and the government of Niger State. The President said Yusuf brought a clear vision to the NPC and was committed to improving the demographic data needed for national planning and development. He urged the commission’s leadership and staff to sustain the reforms the late chairman championed.
