Radda Warns Against Politicising Insecurity in Katsina
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has urged residents and political stakeholders not to exploit insecurity for political gain. He called for unity, prayers and cooperation with security agencies to restore peace in the state. Speaking on August 1 at the 2026 Yaumul Shukur celebration, which marks the 1934 merger of the former Katsina and Daura Provinces, Radda said protecting lives must take priority over politics. He said the state had recruited, trained and equipped the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to support conventional security agencies. He also praised recent joint operations involving the military, police and the corps, which he said led to the killing of more than 40 bandits, including a notorious kingpin. The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, also called on residents to uphold the longstanding unity and brotherhood of Katsina and Daura.
