Lagos Spent ₦84.4bn on Health in Q1 2026, Highest Among Reporting States
Lagos recorded the highest health expenditure among reporting states in the first quarter of 2026, with ₦84.40 billion. Kano followed with ₦20.33 billion, while Bauchi spent ₦16.12 billion. Adamawa, Niger, Bayelsa, Oyo and Delta were also among the states with the largest reported health spending. Jigawa reported zero health expenditure for the quarter, while Rivers State was not included in the data. On a per-resident basis, Lagos spent ₦6,724.78, followed by Bayelsa at ₦4,233.61 and Adamawa at ₦3,002.28. Ebonyi, Cross River and Anambra recorded the lowest per-capita spending among the states listed, at ₦204.49, ₦232.27 and ₦353.67 respectively. The figures are based on health expenditure data from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and population estimates from the National Bureau of Statistics.
