Two Children Die as Heavy Rain Collapses Homes in Jigawa Community
Two children have died and several people were injured after a building collapsed during heavy rainfall in Gandun Sarki community, Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The downpour reportedly began on Friday night, August 21, and lasted for more than an hour across parts of the Hadejia Senatorial District. The storm caused flooding and damaged or collapsed more than 20 houses in the community. The father of the deceased children said his five- and eight-year-old children were asleep when their home collapsed. Other injured relatives were taken to Hadejia General Hospital for treatment. Residents whose homes were destroyed have appealed to the Jigawa State Government for urgent relief and support.
