Nollywood Stars Rally to Morayo Afolabi Brown’s Defense After Disturbing Phone Curse

Nollywood Stars Rally to Morayo Afolabi Brown’s Defense After Disturbing Phone Curse — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Morayo Afolabi Brown recently shared a video on her Instagram page about a caller who unleashed curses on her for probing guests on her show. She explained that she was first criticised for asking Mr Fashola about religion, then Aunty Ireti Doyle about her marriage, and most recently about a guest’s funeral experience. Despite being unsettled, Morayo defended her role as a journalist and noted that she always respects her guests’ boundaries, sometimes sending questions in advance. She highlighted her decades of experience and affirmed her right to ask meaningful questions. Several Nollywood colleagues responded with support. Toyin Abraham praised the positivity of Morayo’s platform, Deyemi Okanlawon lauded her sensitivity during interviews, and Kaffy commended her steady voice in public discourse. Former co-host Tope Mark Odigie wished her strength and reminded her that her supporters outnumber the critics.

I've noticed celebrities often rush to defend colleagues, yet rarely address the initial issues raised by the interviewer.

While support is nice, focusing on curses might overshadow the importance of respectful dialogue on sensitive topics like religion or marriage.

Media hosts could set clearer boundaries with callers, warning them that abusive language will end the conversation immediately.
