Keeping Life’s Responsibilities From Distracting Us From God
Marriage, family, work, business and financial commitments are important parts of life. However, they should not gradually take the place of devotion to God. The Bible warns that believers should not become entangled in worldly affairs at the expense of pleasing God. In the parable of the great banquet, ordinary responsibilities became excuses for ignoring an important invitation. God does not ask us to abandon our duties. He calls us to put them in the right order. Make time for prayer, Scripture, worship, service and obedience, even amid life’s demands. Reflect on this: Have the legitimate concerns of my life begun to replace my devotion to God and His purpose?
