Why Jesus is Called the Light of the World

Jesus, the Lamb of God, claimed to take away the sin of the world. He declared himself the light of the world, a claim the religious leaders of Jerusalem rejected. Just before this declaration, Jesus told a woman caught in adultery to “go and sin no more.” An encounter with him should change our view of sin and inspire a new way of living. Those who follow Jesus become more conscious of sin and begin to hate it. They carry God’s light shining within them. Christ in us is our hope of eternal glory (Colossians 1:27).
