Why Tinubu’s Support Is Driven by Religion, Tribalism and Self-Interest, Not Competence
In my view, no one backs Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ability or vision. They support him for three reasons: religion, tribal loyalty or personal gain. These are the very issues holding Nigeria back and preventing credible leadership. Our soldiers are dying daily, yet the presidency barely acknowledges their sacrifice. I can’t help but compare this to the US, where fallen troops receive full national honors. It pains me to see Nigerian troops treated as if their lives don’t matter. Under past military regimes, Nigeria was safer. Troops were respected, and no part of the country was overrun by terrorists. Farmers didn’t pay levies, and villages weren’t burning. Those military heads of state led from the ground and spoke to us directly—unlike today’s disconnected leadership. Democracy under the APC has failed us. It cannot protect lives or unite our people. All they focus on now is the 2027 elections—not our security or well-being.
