Group Petitions ICPC Over Alleged Irregularities in IST Chairmanship Change
The Plateau Democratic Movement has asked the ICPC to investigate the circumstances surrounding the removal of Amos Azi as chairman of the Investments and Securities Tribunal (IST). The group said Azi was reappointed by President Bola Tinubu in August 2025, but Aminu Junaidu reportedly assumed the role on October 2 after a directive allegedly came from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. According to the petition, the change has raised concerns about compliance with the Investments and Securities Act 2025. The group urged the ICPC to establish how Junaidu took over the tribunal and whether due process was followed. The IST handles disputes in Nigeria's capital market, and the petitioners warned that uncertainty over its leadership could weaken investor confidence and trust in the regulatory system.
