Zaidu Injury Worries Chelle as Arokodare Stakes Super Eagles Claim
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle faces a possible selection setback after Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi suffered a right adductor injury in his club’s 3-0 win over Académico Viseu. Porto coach Francesco Farioli said the injury appeared serious, with further tests expected to determine how long Zaidu could be out. The injury comes ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar on September 23 and Guinea-Bissau on September 27. Chelle is also monitoring the fitness of another left-back option, Felix Agu. There is better news in attack, however. Tolu Arokodare scored in Ajax’s 4-0 victory over Telstar and has now found the net in three straight appearances. The striker’s form could strengthen his case for a bigger role as Chelle finalises his squad.
