Court Defers Judgment in COOU Vice-Chancellor Appointment Dispute
The National Industrial Court in Awka did not deliver its scheduled judgment in the suit challenging the appointment of Prof. Kate Omenugha as substantive Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam. Prof. Chike Osegbue is asking the court to void Omenugha’s appointment and declare him the valid candidate. He argues that he came first in the selection process and was recommended by the university’s governing council. Omenugha has asked the court to dismiss the case, maintaining that the selection process did not fully comply with the university’s law. The judgment was not listed on the court’s cause list, and no new date was announced before the court rose.
