Troops Kill 4 Kidnap Suspects, Rescue 3 Victims in Kwara, Kogi Operations
The Nigerian Army says troops killed four suspected kidnappers, rescued three abducted victims and arrested eight suspects during coordinated operations in Kwara, Kogi and Plateau states. According to an operational report from Operation Savannah Shield, troops ambushed suspected kidnappers near Jonloji village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. One abducted victim was rescued, while a pump-action gun, four motorcycles and ₦64,000 were recovered. The victim was taken to General Hospital, Kaiama, for medical attention. In Kogi State, troops at Forward Operating Base Egbe rescued two kidnap victims who were abducted on July 21 in Yagba West. The report said the kidnappers fled after sighting the troops, and the victims were later reunited with their families. The report also said troops arrested three suspects in Plateau over the alleged attempted rape of a 12-year-old girl, intervened in a farmer-herder clash, and foiled an armed robbery attempt on the Hawan Kibo-Rafin Sanyi road.
