Olayinka Community Monarch Dies in Captivity Despite ₦21m Ransom
A resident recently freed by kidnappers alleges that the traditional ruler of Olayinka in Ifelodun LGA died in bandits’ custody despite his community paying a large ransom. The abductors reportedly demanded and received ₦21 million in cash, two new motorcycles and a jerrycan of petrol for the monarch’s release. According to the freed victim, the ruler had already passed away while still in captivity. The news has left residents of Olayinka in mourning and fuelled concerns over the growing insecurity in parts of Kwara State. Community members are urging state security agencies to step up patrols and rescue efforts as they await an official response.
