The newly constituted board of Paramo International Trade Center in Ladipo Mushin Lagos State, today paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable member representing Mushin Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Yinka Esho Kazeem at his office. 

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the board, Barrister Femi Martins thanked the Honourable member for his warm reception and said Hon Esho as the former Sole Administrator of the Local Government is an experienced Leader the board needs to have full grasp of happenings within the market and count on his advice going forward. 

In his reaction, Hon Esho congratulated members of the board and said he can pointedly say administration of that particular market is an uphill task. He identified some challenges but reposed confidence in members of the board to be able to achieve desired results. He assured the board that they have the full backing of the Assembly and charged the members to ensure peace returns to the market and trading once again is seen to be seamless.

Thanking Honourable Esho on behalf of the board, Mr Babatunde Ige said the assurance he has given that the board has his backing and that of other leaders will spur the members of the board to perform exceedingly. He promised that the board will not let the good people of Mushin and Lagos State down.

Hon Esho ended the meeting with a blank cheque to the board to visit and seek for guidance anytime necessary.

All members of the board were present at the meeting.

Shocking Daystar TV Claims Shake Christian Media: Here's What We Know

Over the past week, Daystar Television Network — the Christian TV empire founded in 1997 by the late Marcus Lamb — made headlines over a shocking controversy involving the family-run organization.

Lamb’s son, Jonathan, and his wife, Suzy, allege their young daughter was molested by a family member and that the horrific ordeal was improperly handled. Those stunning allegations come amid a dispute over leadership changes within Daystar.

Marcus Lamb died in 2021 due to complications with COVID-19, leaving his wife, Joni, to serve as president of Daystar. Jonathan had served as a vice president but was demoted in April after purportedly declining to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

Audio provided to Investigative Reporter Julie Roys features Jonathan and a representative from Daystar speaking about a document Jonathan had declined to sign and an ultimatum; this audio, which doesn’t provide context on the document he’s being asked to inscribe, is reportedly from last November.

“If you do not do that, then you are removing yourself from the board and removing yourself from your vice president position, and you are then…still an employee,” the representative warned. “That’s where we are.”

The drama surrounding Jonathan’s relationship with Daystar is unclear, though the situation reportedly intensified after this exchange, as he was terminated by the network earlier this month over what the organization allegedly called “deficiencies” in his “judgment and performance.”

The situation is complicated by the fact that Jonathan’s sisters and brothers-in-law are also on staff at Daystar, possibly adding multiple intricacies to an already difficult scenario.

Plus, Jonathan alleges he was always intended to be his father’s successor, but that plans changed once he and Suzy made the allegations reported by Roys. Just days after a family dispute over these claims, Jonathan said his father sent an email to the family announcing a different succession plan and noting that his wife, Joni, would take over Daystar if he died.

Jonathan told Roys he believed that decision was a “punishment” for the abuse claims he made surrounding his daughter.

Marcus passed away just three months after that email was sent, and Joni subsequently took over.

Understanding the Allegations

Jonathan and Suzy Lamb released a video last month explaining why they’ve gone public with their claims — the details of which we’ll explore in-depth.

The two said they felt God calling them to speak out and deemed they had no other option. They also previewed that they had shared their story with other reporters, including Roys.

“We never dreamed this would be our lives,” Suzy said in the video, with the two noting they are in an undisclosed location over safety fears. “We begged God for months and months that He would take it any other route, but we have to obey in the end.”

Roys’ report, released after that video, sheds light on the allegations and the heart of the complicated matter. In Roys’ article, Jonathan and Suzy are quoted saying their young daughter revealed a few years ago that she had been molested.

At the time, the child didn’t identify the man outside of a few characteristics. Over time, the couple began to suspect an unidentified family member who Roys only referred to as “Pete.”

Several factors added to these suspicions, including a story Pete allegedly told in which the child walked in on him when he was naked in the bathroom. After revealing the molestation, the little girl also allegedly became scared to go to Daystar, where Pete worked, according to Roys.

The child, at one point, even hid when he entered the room. Other family members also allegedly warned the couple about Pete, who they said would also go to Jonathan and Suzy’s home to play when only the nanny was there. The unnamed nanny reportedly found this “creepy,” according to Roys’ report.

The situation came to a crescendo during the disturbing event that reportedly unfolded Aug. 3, 2021, at a beach house Daystar rented for its annual executive retreat; this happened about eight months after the initial claims of molestation came to light.

According to the couple, Pete followed their 5-year-old daughter upstairs while she was changing to go swimming. Suzy said the man’s eyes “went black” as though he was in what she described a “zombie mode.” Jonathan said he quickly took action and ran to the room.

“To my horror, when I got up there, my daughter was completely naked, and (he) was in the room,” Jonathan told Roys. “And I was just immediately like, ‘What are you doing?’ — screaming at the top of my lungs. And (he) is like, ‘I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry.’ He apologized like 50 times, like I caught somebody red-handed.”

Following Jonathan’s dismissal from Daystar, he and Suzy told Roys that Joni and Marcus — the latter of which is no longer alive to respond to these accusations — attempted to protect Pete and the network’s image rather than the child who has been purportedly harmed.

The Elder Lambs’ Alleged Response
Jonathan and Suzy claim Joni, upon learning of the abuse, asked to meet with her granddaughter one-on-one, and that the girl later stopped talking about the abuse.

They said it was unclear how that conversation went, but that their daughter was suddenly silent about it. Meanwhile, the couple secretly went to the police and reported what had happened, keeping this information from the family.

According to Roys, authorities initially closed the case due to the child not discussing details, though it was reportedly later reopened and is currently pending with the Colleyville Police Department in Texas.

Months later, when Pete was allegedly found by Jonathan alone with his daughter at the house rental, Jonathan and Suzy hoped Marcus and Joni would get involved.

But, according to Jonathan and Suzy, the elder Lambs felt Pete was innocent. A discussion about the incident is said to have descended into shouting and accusations aimed at the child.

Additional details are in Roys’ report, but one final claim worth noting: Jonathan and Suzy allege Joni said God told her while praying that Pete was innocent, with Marcus purportedly joyfully clapping over the revelation.

The family allegedly ended up visiting with a counselor at the behest of Marcus and Joni to assess the molestation claims, though Jonathan and Suzy said Marcus eventually concluded Pete was innocent.

Jonathan and one of his brothers-in-law were purportedly brought into Marcus’ office and told the allegations were found to be untrue. According to Roys, Marcus threatened that they’d need to find another job if they continued believing Pete was guilty of the abuse.

Roys reported that Jonathan felt he had “no choice” but to listen.

Daystar and Joni Lamb Respond
Daystar reportedly issued a statement to Roys noting the matter had been “settled” and that an “internal investigation” unfolded when the issue was first raised at the 2021 retreat.

It “concluded with no wrongdoing found nor evidence provided that corroborated the allegation,” according to the statement.

“It is unfortunate that these private family matters have just now resurfaced as these allegations were proven false, and the matter was resolved more than 3 years ago, after which family functions including holiday gatherings, continued for several more years,” the statement read.

Joni also put out a video responding to the allegations by stating it is a “smear campaign” motivated by the decision not to make Jonathan president of Daystar. She added that the judgment to terminate her son was made after a 15-month review of his work as well as a refusal to improve his performance.

“Rather than take any steps to improve his performance at Daystar, it seems clear now that Jonathan was focused on fabricating a smear campaign,” Joni said. “You see, Jonathan was extremely disappointed that he was not named future President of Daystar following the death of his father and my husband, Marcus, despite the fact that Marcus had clearly given a directive to the family and to the Board that I would succeed him as president.”

She continued, “His disappointment in not getting his way only deepened when I married Doug Weiss, who has been such a blessing to me, the rest of my family, and Daystar.”

Joni also accused Jonathan in a written statement of escalating the situation to “attempted blackmail” to try and make himself president of the network.

She said she had no choice but to speak out — and denied any wrongdoing.

“I want to assure you that all the allegations that are circulating against myself, my late husband, and other members of my family are completely false and we have already begun to take legal steps to defend ourselves and will address the accusations in a God-honoring way,” Joni said. “We stand firm in our faith, knowing that God is with us, and His purpose for Daystar is far greater than any challenge we face.”

In a response to Roys, Daystar provided rebuttals and responses to many of the claims shared in her reporting:

Attorney for Accused Speaks
Mark Daniel, an attorney representing Pete, has also spoken out, penning a letter to Roys calling the allegations against his client “baseless.”

“[Pete] unequivocally denies the statements made by Jonathan and Suzy Lamb alleging that he engaged in some form of improper contact with any child,” he wrote. “Such statements are slanderous. Anyone who knows [Pete] knows that these statements are false, insulting, and demeaning.”

Daniel also cast doubt on whether Jonathan and Suzy believe the allegations, claiming the couple still traveled with Pete and his family, and echoing some of the claims seen in Joni’s video.

Jonathan responded to this claim by noting he and Suzy had a “strict boundary” that didn’t allow Pete or his wife to be alone with their daughter, and he had not been welcome to the home since the 2021 retreat.

It’s unclear what will happen next, though it seems both sides are doubling down on their positions.

Meanwhile, A group under the aegis of justice for Afe Babalola Legacy (JABL) has warned protesters planning to demonstrate in Abuja, Lagos, and Ekiti over the legal battle to desist from such action or face dire consequences.

There are no protesters in sight yet at the Ministry of Justice, Abuja for the support of human rights activist, Dele Farotimi over the legal battle between the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti. 

The protesters were expected to converge at 7 AM on Tuesday morning at the ministry’s premises to rally support for the lawyer and human rights activist.

However, our correspondent said the presence of security operatives deployed to maintain peace and order during the protest, were seen at the location.

This was after organisers of the protest, the Take It Back Movement on Monday, vowed to go ahead with its planned protests in Ekiti, Lagos, Abuja, London and Canada.

A flier shared by the Take It Back Movement on its official X handle on Sunday, indicated that the rally would be held despite police warning against such gathering.

The flyer for the protest was titled, "Nationwide/Global Protest Against The Nigerian Judiciary' seen by our correspondent, urged Nigerians to refuse to be silenced.

A one-minute video also posted by the organisers saw activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, saying "An unjust act of oppression cannot stand no matter how 'well presented' that it was done under the colour of law!

"On December 10, 2024, in Lagos, Abuja, Ado-Ekiti, Benin City, Toronto, and the city of London, the people intoxicated by power will be confronted by the power of the people!”

The development comes after the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), last Friday, insisted that Farotimi was out to tarnish his reputation which he had built following many years of hard work and diligent toil

Babalola, who said he petitioned the police to investigate the defamatory allegations made by Farotimi in the book titled, ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System,’ said charging the activist to court by the law enforcement agency was for the law to take its due course on the matter.

Following the petition, the police in Ekiti State arrested Farotimi in Lagos on Tuesday and arraigned him before an Ekiti State Magistrates Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday over allegations bordering on defaming the elder statesman.

Protests Break Out To Free Dele Farotimi

Submission to one’s husband means you should respect and adore him. This you have to do whether he is rich or not. Whether “to you” he is irresponsible because he is currently unable to provide for you because of his current financial status.

Once a woman is married she has accepted the man as her head. Regardless of how they were while they were dating or in courtship. If you disrespected him or saw him as your equal while you were dating or in courtship that should change once you are married to him.

If you do not respect and honor your husband it will affect your relationship inside and it will extend to your family, friends and neighbors. They will also make attempts to indirectly or directly disrespect you husband. You might be fine with the disrespect in the beginning of your marriage but by the time you start to see your husband as your partner you will not be happy with the disrespect.

Decision making is where submission becomes very important. Submission in marriage means you don’t downplay or attack whatever decisions your husband makes in your home. You are welcome to deliberate with him and suggest to him but do not attack his decisions. A man as a husband is the leader of the family and it is his responsibility to lead the family positively.

Even though cooking, washing and doing “motherly” chores are signs of submission, disrespect and arguing with one’s husband counters them and render them null void. Nobody ever forgets how they were treated when they were down and remember no condition is permanent. When his financial status changes you wont view him as the same man you once knew. He will take care of you and your family financially but the emotions will be gone.

Data complex, to enhance National Security and efficiency of the country’s Migration/Border Management processes.
President Tinubu arrived at the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters in Abuja at about 12:08pm and was received by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.

In her opening address, Nandap, said the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex will ascertain the risk level of persons entering the country, detect irregular migration patterns and monitor unmanned borders in hard-to-reach areas nationwide.

She said the facilities are “Setting the benchmark to use technology to secure our borders and ensure the security of the nation.”

President Tinubu Commissions Solar Powered Data Technology Complex.

In a bid to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable women and youth, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, in collaboration with Global Peace Women Nigeria, has disbursed the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira to five cooperative societies in Zikpak Chiefdom, Jema'a Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Presenting the cheque on Tuesday in Kafanchan to the Agwam Fantswam II, Dr. Josiah Kantiok, who, in turn, handed it over to the beneficiaries, the Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, said the gesture aims to enhance the income levels of the benefiting groups.

He explained that the five cooperative societies, comprising 60 women and 40 youth across genders, had been trained by the organisation on peace-building mechanisms under the "One Family Under God" model and financial literacy. The trainees were grouped into 20 persons per group.

The Country Director reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to working with the people until meaningful change is achieved, fostering an appreciation of differences across tribes and religions, and underscoring the shared humanity of all as descendants of Adam and Eve.

Giving his fatherly blessings, the Agwam Fantswam II, Dr. Josiah Kantiok, thanked Global Peace Foundation Nigeria and Global Peace Women Nigeria for uplifting his subjects. He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the resources given for their intended purposes.

Peaceful Living: NGO Boosts  Women, Youth Livelihood In Kaduna With ₦500,000

Two students have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident in Lokoja, Kogi State.

DAILY POST gathered that the accident, which occurred on Friday morning at about 10am, involved a female student of Federal University Lokoja, Miss Covenant Omolola Isaac, and another female student of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Abu Taiwo Abimbola, from the Department of Science Laboratory and Technology Student.

Our correspondent gathered that a heavily loaded articulated vehicle heading for Abuja axis along Felele, in Lokoja, lost control and ran into a tricycle popularly called Keke, that was carrying passengers heading to town.

Other occupants of the tricycle were seriously injured.

An identification card of the deceased female student of Federal University Lokoja, Covenant Omolola Isaac, of Department of Geology, was recovered from the accident scene.

According to sources, the bodies of the two female students were deposited at Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, by some officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC.

When contacted, the Sector Commander, FRSC, Kogi State, Samuel Oyedeji said his office has not been furnished with the details of the incident.

He, however, promised to get back to DAILY POST. But he has not done so as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the President of the
National association of Science Laboratory and Technology Students, Kogi State Polytechnic chapter, Comrade Akor Caleb Kelvin, has issued a statement over the demise of the female student.

The statement read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our cherished member, [Abu Taiwo Abimbola, 2023/HSLT/MCB/087], who tragically lost her life earlier today in a road accident along Felele Road, Lokoja. This devastating loss has left all of us in shock and deep sorrow.

“Abimbola, was more than just a member of our association; she was a beacon of hope and inspiration to everyone around her. Her kindness, dedication, and passion for education made her an exceptional part of our community. leaving behind a legacy of love and excellence.

“As we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we extend our deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and loved ones. We pray for strength and comfort for them during this incredibly difficult time.

“In honor of her memory, the association will be organizing a tribute and memorial service to celebrate her remarkable life. Details of the event will be shared in due course, and we encourage everyone to join us in paying our final respects.

“Taiwo Abimbola will forever remain in our hearts. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

Truck Crushes 2 Female Students To Death In Lokoja

> Afe Babalola’s law firm has asked the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) to disbar Dele Farotimi, a human rights advocate, for alleged unethical conduct. 

The firm wrote a 90-page petition dated December 6, 2024 and signed by Ola Faro, a partner in the firm.

LPDC is a committee established by the Legal Practitioners Act and charged with upholding ethical standards in the legal profession.

Faro told the LPDC that he wrote the petition in his personal capacity “and for and on behalf of the law firm of Afe Babalola & Co”.

The lawyer was also mentioned in Farotimi’s book titled: ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’.

Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria, and some lawyers in his firm, had alleged that Farotimi “criminally” defamed them in his book.

In the petition, the firm accused Farotimi of engaging in “conduct which is unbecoming of a legal practitioner by making false accusations against the Supreme Court and the legal profession”.

The chamber said Farotimi’s book discredited the Nigerian judiciary and judges.

The petitioner said the book also dented the hard-earned reputation and financial credit of the firm.

“The respondent participated in conduct that he believes to be unlawful by bribing judicial officers and having unlawful access to a judicial officer,” the petition reads.

“Joined his clients in committing misconduct and breach of law with reference to judicial officers by having unlawful access to a judicial officer.

“Gave service to his client which he knows is capable of causing a breach of law and disrespect and corrupting a judicial officer.

“Knowingly made false statements of law and facts in respect to a case already decided by the Supreme Court.

“Assisted his clients in a conduct that he knows to be illegal and fraudulent. Knowingly engaged in illegal conduct in the cause of his practice as a legal practitioner.

“Treated his fellow lawyers without respect, fairness, consideration and dignity, allowing ill-feeling between opposing clients to influence his conduct and demeanour by distorting the facts of a case in the cause of his practice as a legal practitioner.

“Failed to observe good faith and fairness in dealing with other lawyers in respect to a case already decided by the Supreme Court.

“Conducted himself in a manner that obstructed, delayed and adversely affected the administration of justice by taking steps to frustrate a decision of the Supreme Court for his personal benefit and benefit of his client who lost at the Supreme Court.

“Treated the court, particularly the Supreme Court without respect, dignity and honour by using uncouth, unprofessional, undignified and offensive language against the Supreme Court and the justices of the Supreme Court.

“Made defamatory statements against judicial officers rather than making a complaint to appropriate authorities.

“Indicated that he discussed a pending case with a judge trying the case in the absence of an opposing lawyer.”

TRIALS OF FAROTIMI

On December 3, Farotimi was arrested in Lagos by officers attached to the Ekiti police command, over alleged defamation and cyberbullying.

The accused is currently facing trial in two courts on charges bordering on alleged defamation of Babalola.

On Monday, a federal high court in Ekiti granted Farotimi N50 million bail with one surety, following a 12-count charge bordering on cybercrime filed by the inspector-general of police.

However, a magistrate court in Ekiti on Tuesday reserved ruling in Farotimi’s bail application to December 20.

The activist is currently being remanded in an Ekiti prison.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, December 11, he stated that such a reduction would allow Nigerians to better enjoy the festive season.
According to him, “What am I suggesting is that by the 15th or the middle of this month, President Tinubu, if he really believes that these Nigerians voted him into power, it is time to give back to them.

There are two months in any calendar year that are very important months. Whether you are a Christian, a Muslim, an atheist, or a traditionalist, it is common and it is all over the world. The months of December and January are the most important months.
From the middle of December, at least to the end of January, the cost of petrol should be reduced to N300 per litre. The government can absorb the losses.

I spent some years studying Mechanical Engineering in one of Nigeria's top universities, but due to my carelessness, I couldn't graduate. Now I have an offer from my entire extended family to go back to school for undergraduate studies in any country of my choice; that is any country asides the UK. I sometimes feel like I am too old to go back for undergraduate studies, but this is a chance for me to fix some of my mistakes and earn the trust and respect of my family. They are willing to sponsor everything as long as I am willing to continue in any STEM course of my choice. I am thinking of going to Finland to study Medicine, but the language barrier (I am kinda too old to start learning a new language just for studies). Just wondering if I should go across the pond to Canada or USA.I will prefer to study a professional course, and I will love to go the a country where I can stay and work after my studies.
I will appreciate any advice.
