Zambia opened their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a commanding 6-0 win over Egypt in Group C. Captain Barbra Banda starred for the Copper Queens, scoring four times. Racheal Nachula put Zambia ahead from the penalty spot in the 25th minute, while Evarine Phiri added another late goal. Banda scored a penalty in the 60th minute, struck again three minutes later, then completed her hat-trick in the 87th minute before adding a fourth in stoppage time. Zambia dominated possession and chances throughout, registering 34 shots to Egypt’s five. The result gives Zambia a strong start in their pursuit of the WAFCON title, while Egypt face a difficult task in their remaining group matches.
