Enugu Police Arrest 14 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover 5 AK-47 Rifles
Enugu police have arrested 14 suspected kidnappers allegedly linked to a criminal network operating across Enugu and several other states. The command said two of the suspects were connected to the August 2 raid at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Affa, Udi LGA, and were later tracked to Port Harcourt. Police said preliminary investigations linked the group to kidnappings and a fatal attack on routes and communities in Udi and Ezeagu LGAs. The syndicate allegedly collected multimillion-naira and dollar ransoms, while members hid proceeds in livestock, property and other investments. Officers displayed five AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, a locally made firearm, 310 rounds of ammunition and other items recovered during the operations. The police said investigations are continuing and the suspects will be charged after they are concluded.
