Comedian I Go Save Blasts Nigeria’s Endless Blackouts
Nigerian comedian I Go Save took to social media to vent his frustration about the country’s worsening power situation. “Since birth as a Nigerian, these past few years are the worst of power failure of all times,” he wrote. He pointed out that many communities have been without light for weeks, months, or even years. He asked how businesses that rely entirely on government electricity manage to survive under these conditions. He also highlighted the glaring disparity between officials and ordinary citizens: “Aso Rock has installed solar/inverter; the Ministry of Power uses generators; most government houses run on generators. Their family members or friends are often the diesel suppliers or contractors.” He ended on a note of concern: “Are we ever going to have stable electricity?”
