Chelsea Edge Fulham 3-2 as Bassey Captains and Iwobi Takes New Role
Chelsea opened their Premier League campaign with a 3-2 win over Fulham in the west London derby. Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers led the Blues' attacking display. Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey captained Fulham and operated at right centre-back, covering for the absent Joachim Andersen. Alex Iwobi was also given a deeper role, dropping into defence to help Fulham play out from the back. Fulham competed well but Chelsea's attacking quality proved decisive. The result gives the Blues a winning start after failing to win their opening league fixture in each of the previous four seasons.
