Ekiti Urged to Upgrade Technical Colleges for Jobs, Innovation and Skills Training
Ekiti State University Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, has praised the establishment of six technical colleges in Ekiti and called for greater investment to expand their reach across the state. He said modern equipment, updated curricula and stronger teacher training are needed to prepare young people for skilled work. Speaking at the Ekiti at 30 Future Summit, Olowolafe identified solar installation, welding, fabrication, machinery repair and food processing as trades that could support sustainable livelihoods. He also proposed bringing in experienced vocational instructors to train local teachers and link students with employers. He said the Ekiti Knowledge Zone, renewable-energy microgrids and improved road networks could help the state turn its educational strengths into jobs and enterprise. He also pledged support for solar-powered ICT centres in the six technical colleges and efforts to strengthen vocational training.
