Group Seeks Clear Implementation of Lagos Assembly’s Ojaekomo Land Resolution
The Centre for Public Accountability and Social Well-Being has commended the Lagos State Government, the Lagos Assembly and the Nigeria Police Force over efforts to resolve a long-running land dispute between the Ojaekomo and Ojomu Chieftaincy families in Ojaekomo Village, Eti-Osa. The group said the Assembly’s 2023 resolution allocated 27.65 hectares of the disputed land to the Ojaekomo family and 32.42 hectares to the Ojomu Chieftaincy Family. It added that separate survey plans were prepared after the government reportedly revoked a Certificate of Occupancy earlier issued over the land. CPASW said concerns remain over alleged interference with the Ojaekomo family’s allotted portion. It urged the state government and relevant agencies to clearly establish the status of the 27.65-hectare parcel in line with official records and the law. The organisation also called on both families to avoid confrontation and pursue any unresolved claims through lawful administrative channels or the courts.
