Jaylen ‘Babatunde’ Brown Spars With Nigerian Heavyweight During Visit
NBA star Jaylen Brown has taken part in a recreational boxing session during his visit to Nigeria. A viral video shows Brown wearing headgear and sparring with Nigerian heavyweight Solomon Imoleayo. He later joked that he had done no preparation for the session. The boxing appearance was part of a wider trip focused on sport, community engagement and reconnecting with his heritage. Brown also hosted a youth basketball camp, where he shared training tips with young local players. Earlier in the visit, the Ooni of Ife received Brown at the palace in Ile-Ife and gave him the Yoruba name Babatunde, meaning “the father has returned.” Brown’s father, Quenton Marselles Brown, was a professional heavyweight boxer.
