My Girlfriend Owes Me ₦2.2m After I Funded Her Businesses: Should I Involve the Police?
Two years ago, I met a student on MiChat who said she was doing hookups to support herself through school. We started dating, and I tried to help her become financially independent. Last year, I sent her over ₦1 million to start a phone-charging and POS business near her school. Within eight months, the business collapsed after repeated complaints. I later funded a fashion shop because she could sew, but she also complained about low patronage. She began getting school-uniform contracts in my city and kept borrowing money from me to execute them, promising to repay me after delivery. She now owes me about ₦2.2 million. I opened and equipped another shop in the city, and we signed an agreement for monthly repayments, but she has not paid anything since March. She has also brought her elder brother from the village to stay in the shop without my consent. I want to end the relationship, recover my money and remove her from my life. Should I involve the police?
