South-West ADC Leaders Seek Aregbesola’s Removal Over Alleged Party Crisis
South-West leaders of the African Democratic Congress have called for the removal of Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s Interim National Secretary, accusing him of actions they say are destabilising the party ahead of the 2027 elections. In a petition dated 28 July 2026, the leaders alleged that Aregbesola created a parallel political structure, Omoluabi Progressives, and presented its members as ADC executives across the region. They also accused him of interfering with candidate selection and setting up parallel primary-election committees in several South-West states. The petition further alleged irregular changes to candidates submitted for National Assembly elections. The leaders asked the ADC national leadership to review Aregbesola’s appointment and replace him with a competent and loyal party member. These are allegations by the petitioners and have not been independently established in the post.
