FG Orders Stricter Ebola Screening at Nigeria’s Entry Points After Protocol Breaches
The Federal Government has ordered stricter enforcement of Ebola screening and entry procedures at all designated points of entry into Nigeria. The directive follows concerns by the Office of the National Security Adviser over reported breaches of approved protocols. The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said relevant agencies, health institutions and border officials must enforce screening, health declarations, surveillance measures and other entry requirements without discrimination. They must also document and promptly report actual or attempted breaches. The government called for stronger coordination and information-sharing among agencies to support early detection and rapid response. The measures come as Nigeria heightens vigilance following the confirmation of an Ebola case in the country.
