Payne Ends Five-Year Drought as Super Falcons Beat Senegal 2-1
Toni Payne ended her nearly five-year goal drought for the Super Falcons by scoring in Friday’s 2-1 friendly win over Senegal in Ikenne, Ogun State. Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Payne doubled the lead. Senegal pulled one back in the second half, but the Falcons held on for victory. Payne said after the match that she was delighted to finally score for Nigeria again. The two sides will meet again on Monday at the same venue as they continue preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
