Kwankwaso Criticises Alia Over Disruption of Peter Obi’s Benue Visit

Rabiu Kwankwaso has criticised Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia over the disruption of Peter Obi’s visit to the state. Obi had travelled to sympathise with victims of insecurity, including families affected by the 2025 attacks in Yelwata. Obi’s convoy was stopped on the Makurdi-Gboko road while heading towards the community. The Benue State Government denied involvement, saying the governor was not officially informed of the visit. However, the police commissioner said Obi’s party had notified the police command and officers were deployed. Kwankwaso described the incident as unnecessary and said governors should remain open to advice and learning. He argued that political experience and a deeper understanding of government are important for effective leadership. The Benue State Government rejected the criticism, with Governor Alia’s spokesperson urging Kwankwaso to focus on political matters in Kano.
