Carneiro said she acted according to her medical responsibilities after referee Michael Oliver called Chelsea’s medical staff onto the pitch and Hazard requested treatment during the match against Swansea City. She said medical staff were bound by professional and legal obligations to respond. The dispute resurfaced after Mourinho defended his actions in a new documentary. Carneiro was removed from Chelsea’s first-team duties after the incident, left the club the following month and later reached a confidential settlement with Chelsea, which issued an apology. Mourinho has maintained that his reaction was directed at the match situation rather than Carneiro’s gender.
