Keke Driver Jailed 21 Years for Raping and Impregnating 14-Year-Old in Uyo

A 50-year-old keke operator, Ime Edet Akpan, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison by the Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo for raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. The offence occurred at his side chick’s compound in Nung Udoe, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, when he found the minor bathing and forced himself on her. He later admitted in court that he held her and had unlawful carnal knowledge, resulting in her pregnancy. The judge delivered the verdict on Thursday, June 11, 2026, noting the need to deter sexual offences against minors. Akpan, a married father of five, will serve the full term without the option of fine.
